The objective of a process containing equipment is to safely contain process fluids (eg. hydrocarbons or other hazardous fluids) under 'reasonably worst case' process conditions, whilst maintaining its integrity and overall risk to as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP). This article discusses questions that need to be addressed to determine the technical and operational integrity of process containment equipment.
